Hi Claus,
I am not the least bit offended that my name was mis-spelled, it happens. It’s actually a Ukrainian name and I’m going to take a wild guess and assume you don’t have Slavic heritage?
There is no convincing my teammates to continue, it is a horrible shame to have our game end this way. I thought our two teams were really having fun and learning and to have it end because of one unethical lying Neutral seems a travesty; but a fact none the less.
I have thought about some alternative ways to try to “roll back the clock” like suggesting we go back one set of orders and have the Easterling player replaced with a more ethically sound person, but the problem is that he already has acted upon the knowledge we shared after he committed in writing to join us. That crucial knowledge has already been given to your team and thus the damage is well past the point of repair.
I am sad both our teams were cheated out of this game.
I am planning to get into another 1650 game shortly and have submitted the 5 nations I’d like to try; I hope I meet with some of your team in such a game or in the future. I also hope to join a Gunboat game sometime in the future after my 1000 age game (49) ends. I am playing a customized nation called O_Canada (it’s where I am from).
As for “bogus assassination”, what I meant was:
Imagine a camp with a small army, but ready to fight off any raiding Free People armies that come near…and a few hills away, my Northern and Southern Gondor armies are camping around a fire, telling battle stories in preparation for a fight.
Off in the distance two figures slowly approach and are detained by the soldiers guarding our emcampment and brought in front of my 3 Warlords (Elatar, Celdrahil & Telmuthar). A brief questioning begins and the 2 people being detained simply don’t appear to be who they say they are…then one of the detainees has his disguise foiled and then the other’s disguise is removed…there stand Ji Indur and Erennis!!!
Needless to say, Celdrahil and Elatar immediately step forward and face these deadly assassins whose reputation proceeds them… A challenge is issued by Elatar and Celdrahil and all 3000 soldiers watch what could be an incredible fight to the death. A puff of smoke erupts and Ji Indur and Erennis run away as fast as they can, scared like children!
Elatar and Celdrahil laugh and tell the soldiers step up the guard, and don’t bother chasing those two chickens!
Now…1 of 2 things would likely happen if the balance of Agents and Armies were equal:
#1 Ji Indur and Erennis because they declined personal challenge when they were known to be coming for my warlords, would simply go to the nearest Inn and be thankful they didn’t lose their life and think about different costume disguises for next time.
#2 They attempt to go back to the encampment and of course every one of the 3000 soldiers is looking for them…and they would either be captured or killed.
However this is not the case and somehow Ji Indur and Erennis despite chickening out of a fight were somehow able to assassinate my commanders. Touche!
I think that if there is one suggestion to make the games more realistic, that a player shouldn’t be able to issue both 215 and 670 in the same turn. I think it’s only fair that if you know an assassin is coming for you and your personally challenge him, and he/she declines, they shouldn’t be able to then assassinate the character later.
What do you think?
Talk to you again shortly Claus!
