I’ll drink to that, since Ren never sent over that figgy pudding recipe he promised. P.S. It was an interesting if flawed experiment…you have to admit though it’s not every day you see an army of the Fire King under Hero Uthmag and an army of the Cloud Lord under Hero Shoglic duke it out on the floor of Mordor.
i agree. as an experiment, it was interesting. But the nations are vastly different in terms of their ability to survive & thrive in this kind of “winner-take-all” free-for-all.
Look at Noldo and Dark L. for a contrast. Noldo has been attacked all game long. He’s lost 2 capitals. Yet his character strength and geography allow him to do ok. Dark L on the other hand was toast quickly because, simply put, it was possible for him to be toast quickly. Nothing the player could do about it.
There were some interesting slug-fests. My hat’s personally off to Marty. He took down SG and then Harad. Those were notable nation foes. Well done Marty!
Oh, and before Din chimes in that my hat should be off to him, let me say, that my hat is also off to Ian. Well done with LR Ian.
whew glad to beat him to the punch on that one… <grin>

Gee, thanks Dave. (Seriously, I do appreciate it; I just have to give you a hard time).
I’m sure I could have added Duns to the list shortly, if only the game would continue a couple more turns…. I mean, the Duns had the jump on me and all he’s managed to do was to take a town of mine. I believe he’s missing something this turn too, huh? Something about a little trinket or ring or whatever it was.
As far as the game goes – I do think it was an interesting concept and one that I, for the most part enjoyed. I’d even be up for continuing after turn 20, though I doubt we’ll have enough agree to that.
I think Drew did a great job as CL militarily. Didn’t see so much on the assass, but he said he had some bad rolls, which I guess Din didn’t have. As far as I know, good job to the NW guys too. I only heard second hand, but a couple caps, Wking first in points…. (hey LR, you want to do something about that??)
Marty
I thought it was banana bread…? Yeah, heros made their presence known alright…
Scorba was part of a carefully considered plan, I admit a different plan, but a plan nevertheless
With two turns to go I think Brads prediction of Mordor stalemate looks to be all too true.[/QUOTE]
Well if we agree that there was just some luck involved in that line of events, it’s OK with me. There wouldn’t be much of a stalemate in Mordor, then. The whole Ithil pass would burn, everybody who doubts that please vote to play on.
As for Marty, I think you have played an excellent game. nevertheless, I believe the SG and Har player made it a bit easier for you than they could have. all in all, I think this could have been a better game if some players would have been a little more persistent. that is said by somebody who lost five towns in the first five turns of the game…
Burning Blade and Snow Hammer conjure up images of…Fire and Ice. Scratch two nazgul. I may’ve had 3 other failures this turn (about average for me this game), but I’m darn glad those two went through, just for sentimental purposes. <g> He who laughs last…
Hargrog feeling a little queasy perchance, not quite well enough to lead his army to 3224?
Last turn looks like it’s going to be a bit of a non-event for the Dog! And there was me hoping for some company.
Well, I can understand that it’s quite lonely in the streets of your newly improved city. The only place that is even more deserted seems to be Barad Ungol
Vote to play on and we’ll see to it that you get some company.
Where is Dendra BTW, hiding somewhere to avoid the fate of his morbid brothers ?
Pity about Hargrog, it’s down to me then, as it seems. What was that saying again? If you want it to be done properly, do it yourself?
Whats the loss of about 1500HC worth these days…not much seeing as I just hired that many and more last turn
You should ask Ren the Very Dead how his capital is looking. It has so many visitors that no FK characters seem to stay around very long.
The same goes for the Eothraim at their former capital, 2 more of his characters were found in the cells there last turn and he lost yet another MT.
I vote for a 5 turn extension so I can clean the mess out of the Ithil & North passes
Ian
LR
I’m glad you guys are enjoying yourselves!! I’m having a great time getting Cardolani loyalties down to “Fair” and stealing 4,000 gold a turn, best game ever!
Too bad you weren’t able to accomplish your ultimate desire and see me slaughtered, deaded, chopped up and nailed to the wall in pieces, etc. Next time we play this game, I’ll keep my mouth closed like Marty and watch the vultures circle someone else…
Cheers,
Brad for Ren…um, Shog…re…Shag…I mean Rozil…um…Uuvatha, actually, yeah, yeah, Uuvatha is my nation leader now…poetic, eh?
That’s the smartest thing I’ve heard you say all game. <g>
Now that’s LOL funny…
Fun fun fun in the Cardolan Sun
We are truly happy to welcome the Fire King to the great northlands. It seems his own territory is getting a bit, er, em, hot? As to 4k gold, pfft. who cares? Steal some more Brad. We’ll make more. And as to taking a Cardolan town down to “fair” loyalty… come on… At least I got a Dwarven city down to marginal before he hired his little army…
On a positive note, the Noldo will indeed lose another MT this turn to Cardolan troops. Of course, what we’re wondering is: how many of our commanders will die in the aftermath. Amazingly enough we didn’t lose any characters to Noldo assassins this past turn! Maybe the race really is between LR and CL… I used to think Noldo was giving them a run for their K/A money…
The one sadness that we must report is that those dwarves that bet on the survival of Moria actually won their 5:1 odds bet and can be found even now boozing it up in the ale-halls of Moria… Dancu, you need to inspire more fear in their little hearts!
Okay, I’ve been quiet for a week. Now, release all my characters this week and I’ll shut up for even longer…!
Ren the Un-Undead
How about I execute them instead, you can execute mine if you want to Ooops you don’t have any of mine, actually no one has
You can say goodbye to your agent at your capital too.
Good game everyone, i’ve really enjoyed it, its been different but interesting.
All the best on this last turn.
Ian
Din
Might as well execute both of mine, Gurthlugs found herself a new love interest and doesn’t want them back.
Dendra
Well, this was a fun game. As usual, I made lots of new friends. Odd, though, that my nation lasted so long. Turn 20 and I’m still alive! I consider that the ultimate victory! My game average is 6.72 turns! Special thanks to the Cloud Lord for trying not to kill me so successfully. Honourary mention to the Witch King for being less popular than I (Quite the accomplishment, it would seem.). And of course, who could forget Cardyman and his punmanship!
Best of luck in all future endeavors, except southern republicans, of course…
Brad FK
If you substitute “government-bureaucrat canadians” for “southern republicans” these are my thoughts precisely. <wink right back at ya>
Drew, not quite the Emperor of Mordor as planned
