Hi there all. I’ve been a bit lax getting this one started due to other commitments, but here we are on Turn 3 in a grudge challenge, and time to count the fingerbones in my little bag
I’ll start from the far south (because that’s of most interest to me and I might as well please myself
Pretty fast paced to date down in Harondor. The DS fleets didn’t sally, the CL has just turned up at 3028, so you can guess it looks a little grim for the DS The main SG fleets landed at 2631 on turn 1, the small fleet went to 2430, the Sinda to 2630, and a lonely Corsair fleet bounced into 2634 in the south. 2631, 2630 and 2634 burned on turn 2 and 2430 resisted a regent’s threat (what the!!!
On turn 2 the little admirals gathered their little fleets after the ritual marshmallow fry whilst the SG armies combined on the MT at 2730 and captured it on turn 3 whilst freep armies landed on 2731 and 2833. The sum total - only the isle of 2430, 2632 and 2732 are likely to remain on T4.
The QA main army was also defeated at 2136 and naught but a new icon is sitting at Vamag.
Given that we haven’t faced much elsewhere, we’re expecting the remaining full recruit in S.Harad to be a bit of a tough nut…
At the end of T4 we’re expecting the Harad to own 3MT’s and 2T’s in the south, and 1MT and 2T’s in the north (though that’s on borrowed time too!)
The main DS activity was around Ithil. The FK captured MInas Ithil on T2. NG and SG forces have burned the IK and DkLt’s startups at Osgiliath on T3 whilst the Eothraim smacked the remaining DkLt’s forces north of 3120. 3000 odd Dog troops along with FK survivors plus new recruits are at Osgiliath facing the Gondorian survivors plus the remaining Eo cav of 3 armies that routed the DkLt’s away north. The CL armies have arrived at 3028.
A small Dog cav icon has appeared at 3715
Lot’s of noise and light, and startup armies combusting around Osgiliath.
The sea of Rhun is nice and quiet for the freep. Uvatha’s cav army was intercepted at 4218 by an Eo cav army on T1, the survivors then facing the Northy cav army to be destroyed outright by T3. In a very happy encounter the Sinda fleet encountered the LR fleet at 4415 on T1 so that’s also gone. And to complete the trifecta the NG intercepted the southern LR cav heading in to Harondor. At this point we can’t see any DS icons out back other than the cav at 3715.
And the LR as a military force is out of the game at this point, unable to land troops without his fleet. Well on the good side - they have at least one banker
In Mirkwood the Dog got lucky with reveal pop on Dendra from startup and revealed the Sinda city at 2514, though his main army was intercepted a hex away. With the dwarves marching north (waving to the Goblin gate hooligans on the way we decided to stay the course and not go on the defensive. The drag took 2514with significant losses, revealed 2413 but is faced by stiff Sinda and Dwarf opposition. Only a new hire remains at 2715 with little light bulbs in the woods to keep him company. Gob gate fell to the dwarves T3. The drag is looking very shakey on his pins…
From 2305 we can see there is no recruit remaining. A freep army sits unopposed at the (now) WK town of 2405, and the last WK army is hosting a bunch of nasty Woodmen at 2406. Looks like that party is coming to a close too.
Angmar is messy for the freep. By end of T1 there were DS icons on EVERY Rhu pop - looks like he plans to make a fight of it - so inconvenient! A few smaller armies have been burned, and WK armies encountered south and in front of the Rhu positions. Argeleb and a gaggle of freeps decided to wander in to 1806 to see what was happening, and were met by the lovely Angulion and an ‘army’ - see what happens there.
Dancu split a cav army off and headed west on T1 threatening the village at 1307 and then capturing 0907. The noose tightened and Gaerdae has caught him at 0707 so that’s his traipsing days over. Things still warming up around Angmar and no serious blows or major armies have made their mark just yet. The DS have swarms of troops so we the freep will need to be clever
All in all, question marks to be answered in the strength of Harad forces in S.Harondor, the DS mega push in Ithil, and the hard nut in the mass recruit of Angmar. Harad has taken a terrible beating otherwise, the Mordorian armies are now committed, and Rhovanion/Rhun and Mirkwood looking very good for the freep. We’ll see if the DS concentrations pay off…
Cheers
