Being somewhat of a new comer to the MEPBM environment, I presume...
(may I presume?!?) that the number of turns run this quarter
increased from the previous quarter? If so, is this increase in any
way attributable to the influx of Yankees?
If not, please forgive my brash and somewhat obnoxious assumptions...

Hi,
I've updated my website to include some details on the 2950 Scenario. I'd
appreciate if some generous people on this list would help me set things up?
I need turn 0 reports for some of the nations.
I have
Woodmen
Dunadan Rangers
Silvan Elves
Long Rider
Dragon Lord
Ice King
Quiet Avenger
Fire King
Dwarves
[Thanks to Mr Din for most of the above].
If you have some (or all) of the others, would you consider sending them to
me please at bobbins71@callnetuk.com
(Please don't just send all the attachments though, write to me first with
what you have? I don't really want to be deluged with 100's of attachments
to download - thanks :-).
Also,
I'm always looking for strategy articles, guides, results to encounters
etc. Specifically for the 2950 scenario (because there isn't much written
about it) but also for the other games. I'm also interested in views on
the NKA, WoTR and Last Alliance variants from those involved?
Thanks
Kev

RD: Hi Kev,
I have all the 2950 startups (received from Clint - at a price! - to set up
the WotR scenario). Unfortunately I only have paper copies (none on disc)
so I will have to re-type them, so let's see what you get from other guys
first. If there's any you don't get from others, I'll type 'em up and send
them to you. Just let me know what you're missing!

Well yes the DGE players did swell the number of turns run, but also we have
a larg e influx of German players, and also of other players who have
rejoined. Basically if you add the player base of the Harlequin group and
the DGE group we still got around another 100-200 players...

I know that many of the Europeans refer to all those born in the
United States as yankees. But you on the other have no excuse being
born in the States. Not all of us who joined are yankees and those
who aren't are offended by being called so. I was born a Southerner
and proud to be one. So please do not lump us all together with that
GOD AWFUL YANKEE phrase if you do know better.

Confused is quite alright in this circumstance. It's because of the
presumptious attittude of the U.S. forefathers. See the best answer
for us is American unless you know that we are born rebs or yanks or
whateveer but that is a little to much to figure out from a name. I
am forgiving to all Europeans that call me a Yankee because they
don't usually know better and don't think of it as much of a personal
slight as I do. But we USA's (that might work usas, just kidding ;))
can not honestly call ourselve Americans we do share the title with
what about dozen other countries between N and S America. So I have
to say its a tough call. I'd say stick with Americans its a popular
enough term and the Canadians have a very good name to be proud of so
until someone is offended by Amercans go with it. But now after this
long thread by me and another guy about the clarification fo Yankee
and Yank let's avoid the first term, Yankee, as much as posibble eh?!

Well, that is a hard one. Invoke the ghosts of the 19th century, and down
here in the South, "Yankee" is an insult. But since the South has provided
the majority of America's fighting men in all our causes (and Europe's)
(sorry Clint) ever since -- we do try to move on, we really do.
I think we can all live with Yank if you folks "over there" can -- after
all, who wrote the song anyway? "The Yanks are coming" used to be a
promise, now it's a foreboding, nicht wahr? As languages evolve, "Yank" has
pretty clearly come to refer, especially overseas, to all US Americans,
while Yankee (shortened from the proper Damyankee) is still an epithet
referring to certain northern cousins.

However, politically incorrect the origin of people in this country referring
to themselves as "Americans"-- the name has stuck. Let's face it, just like
"Yank", I think most (if not all) people who hear "American" -- know that one
is referring to citizens of the USA. After all, the idea of the "ugly
American"-- doesn't conjure up images of a Canuck- we all know who we're
talking about.

Apparently we are not so "united" in the states if some of us get offended by the
term "Yank". I have always thought of the term "reb" as belonging to those who
fought for he south in the Civil War and "yank" as those who fought for the
north. Growing up in New Jersey, I never heard a southerner referred to as a
"reb" in the present tense. I guess I was ignorant to think that we in the north
were not still referred to as "yanks". I'm also curious to know if that is true
for all many southerners today, regardless of sex, race, color, creed, religion,
and national origin.
