What MEPBM format do you play most?

New poll. Polls are still just as meaningless as ever, but I thought this might be entertaining. I was initially going ot ask which format people “enjoyed” most, but I thought that it might be better to ask which you “play” most. Hopefully each question has the same answer.

Darrell,

Right now I am in three games…one of each. Which button am I supposed to click on…? <g>

Web-Master: The game you play and the game you enjoy are not always the same thing. I play grudge games but most enjoy the now defunct GSI ‘classical’ game. The List has discussions of how and why the GSI and Harley individual games differ.

I guess what I was really getting at with this questions was the following:

What type of game do you find yourself playing more often?

A: A regular game where you join by yourself or with a couple of friends (i.e. not a true team game)?
B: A gunboat game where you join by yourself and you don’t talk to anyone else?
or C: Do you stick to team games where you already know your teammates?

Of course, there are always exceptions and “what ifs”, which is why these polls are purely for entertainment value, and no scientific data should be drawn from them.

One thing about the classic GSI game that I didn’t particularly care for was the way it managed to get me to spend so much money on long-distance phone calls.

Right now I’m on 2 solid teams, but sometimes like to stray off on my own, something like cheating on one’s wife, LOL

Can we quote you? " Middle Earth, a bit like cheating on your wife… " and from others “need my fix, I’m addicted…”

Personally enjoy the Grudge game format the most, also enjoy trying out new things in GB.

I’d be interested to see a new poll for the scenarios, 1650, 2950, 1000. Which ones players play or would like to play (also the ones they most dis-like).

Clint (GM)

Does solo play count as Grudge…? Or do you consider it GB, as you seem to be trying out new things there all the time…!

Perusing the PRS, I expect your looming loss in 80 will be something new again. :stuck_out_tongue: All these new experiences courtesy of your friendly neighbourhood Brad da Freep…y’er welcome.

Wasn’t the scenario poll done recently enough? Although, I could see the dislike numbers potentially interesting.

Yeah why not, LOL, just don’t tell the ball and chain,

I love the grudge formatt, over years you can build up a great team. Don’t have to worry about constant drop outs and new players can be coached. With the chance to play other well organised and experienced teams you get to see some great tricks and tactics. I sweat on the new turn arriving, print it immediately (nothings as good as hard copy, colour maps  ) then read it about 5 times jotting notes, worse than drug addiction because it’s more time consuming

I agree with clint on a pole on age formatt. I know many people have real hard core biases on this matter. I’m a real 1650 fan.

Adrian

Is this information gained from personal experience? :stuck_out_tongue:

Mind you working with JC long term is enough to drive anyone to substance abuse!

Just kidding JC.

Regards Herman (AKA Schultzy)

All 1650 varaints have their time and place according to the mood…
I agree with Elfbaiter about grudge games but GB does have a certain
spice to it while Normal games is always worth it as a side distraction
to other two varaints…

I just like them all…

Never liked GB. Im too nosy and having hardly any intel does my head in

But thats the great thing about GB, the fog of war and the huge pleasant
suprise when allies appear to help out! I’m going to be sending alot of
gold to other nations in my present GB game…

Suppose the advantage as far as I can see it is I can attack what I want without getting iffy emails from the team. I seem to take risks a lot, who says?

Thats another great thing about GB, being able to follow one own’s
tactics without the team going mental…

Which mine usually do. Or let me go do what I want and get ready to send in the shields…lol.

I couldn’t do gunboat cos ya can’t post and i agree the lack of being to coordinate would lead to heaps of frustration. I like grudge cos good plans that require a few teams to come off can, and regularly do
You can still do ‘odd’ stuff but if you warn your team mates they can work around it. They will piss in ya ear, but they can’t say they wern’t warned and if it don’t work, they get to claim ‘i told ya so, ya d^$#head’ rights. and feel better.

I like the boast boards  and would really miss posting crap and sledging friend and foe alike in the true aussie style :stuck_out_tongue:

Adrian

PS: on ya Herman  . Being on team aussie is enough to drive anyone to drugs. Any except amphetamines cos they need quick decisions or lead to violence. Then again…

Unless the team captain bottles it at the last minute and sends order corrections on for you… lol. don’t laugh it happens to me a lot

I agree, but that’s why you have a team captain.

And so long as a balance is kept between your desires and greater team needs, all is OK. There is a limit to the number of hare brained schemes able to be supported in one turn:rolleyes:

Adrian

hare-brained, says who? who you bin talking to? where’s my pointy stick?
