1650 Grudge - Game 64

N Gondor doesn’t have any commanders left, hence no army and the bridge is still up.

Remember the Geneva convention and treat Telumehtar with gentle hands. He really is a nice guy.

Grasty on the other hand, he is just some nasty clould lord peon.

later

Steward of Gondor.

Hard to say, that was kinda an accidental challenge foray anyway…certainly not a capital attack. We haven’t paid too high a price for the loss of the Dwarves and given the rapid roll-up of Rhudaur that seems a good exchange.
In a couple more turns we may have a clearer view on it’s pros or cons as the case may be.

I think I learned a new trick from you guys this turn.

Not going to discuss it openly on the forum but it has to do with the timing and actions of Murazor. I was wondering about this…but you have seemed to confirm my suspicions.

P.S. You will be disappointed in 2004 if you manage to successfully threaten it…which is questionable.

besides Murazor being an expensive waste of space I don’t know what you mean. Or is this related to the suspicions about the WK player? (don’t worry, we have heaps too!)

You guys would know about threats, I think I have seen more this game than the last 5 I have played! Personally, I think they are very unreliable but going by your results anyone has a chance! Of course, you have had a few failures too…

Now I wonder whether my threat will work at 2924 this go?

What no suicide attack to smear your commanders body on the wall??

I am disapointed, is there no blind loyalty in the DS troups? You might bankrupt North Gondor

It’s in relation to what Murazor did last turn and what his buddy Cartman is going to do this turn (or murazor)…which will not be enjoyable for us.

I’m not knocking on any of your players or your play. I mean, no team’s actions are ever perfect…and bad luck etc. can weigh in too so it’s impossible to say.

Yeah, threats have helped a lot in Rhudaur…not losing a ton of troops at 1910 and then using it as a recruiting base helps us keep our momentum.
Other places, not so much.

I like possibilities so be careful with your disappointment!

Now, onto a more pressing matter, who is who in your team? I can’t help noticing you guys are slack in telling us who are playing.

That is so secret even we don´t know.

But I can give you a hint, Another Darrel signed with “The Stubby Folk” and I lead the humble nation who lost a mage to PC. The only other German plays the Sinda.

That is three out of 12, the rest should be easy :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers,

Martin

Well I quite like the possibility that you are disappointed ! So far I’ve had a couple of minor setbacks but most things have gone fine. Hope it stays that way but I’m sure something will go against me somewhere. Them’s the breaks Binky.

So do you want a Who’s Who ? Seems to me that might be revelaing a bit too much strategic information. I’m Scottish and therefore far too tight to give much of anything away. I am happy to reveal that I’m not playing the Dwarves or Northern Gondor.

Cheers
Stuart

That’s our secret wheapon…we’re witholding liquor rations from the Scottsman and we’re threatening the Germans to drink American “water/beer” for the rest of their days. This has whipped them into a killing frenzy I fear.

The 6 Americans on the team are a mixed bag.
4 of our players all belong to the same Kansas City gaming club…and see each other face to face at least weekly.
Woodies as previously mentioned are a rookie, first game ever…not even BOFA…but they’re getting some rules help etc. but picking it up fast. (They seem to be doing just ducky eh?)
I’m an actuary with a penchant for Bearded Women…or you can refer to me as Sir Beancounter the Unexciting.

Now, I’m off to recruit another 500 Accountants with plastic wheapons and polyester armor.

I never had it explained to me why you guys don’t drink normal beer?

When I was last over, I didn’t mind the millers genuine draft but it was picking the best of a bad lot sorry to say! We ended up drinking lots of heinekan…

Our team is all email these days, we are spread around the country with most states represented. 4 of the players are american but have a long long history with the team, including having played with SFGA (they ran the aussie game) back in the 90s. I think probably 2/3 of the team have been playing together for 7+ years. We used to play against each other all the time with SFGA but when Harley took over, we joined together and formed the aussie team and got stuck into the old world champ games they had on back then.

Ah… the good old days, the game has certainly come a long way since then! But each game is still interesting, this one is looking good for a nice fight.

Good. I too think it will be a fairly good, hard fought game and not one of those affairs where you can see the inevitable by turn 5-6. We’ve both run a couple alternative gambits this game…I love how each game has it’s own flavor.

Had the same problem when I was over in Hawaii in 2002. We kept telling the Yanks, “Drinking American beer is like making love near a river… it’s f@&%ing near water!” Drank lots of Spirits instead. Loved Moose McGillycuddlies in Waikiki, Trailer Trash Tuesdays, $2 Mai Thais and Long Island Ice Teas. Man they can wipe you out in fairly short order!

Regards Herman

Aw, you cheated using throkmaw to help take 2004 from me.
(P.S. you won the coin flip there but we took Murazors toy as a consolation prize).

And then there’s mean old Ji Indur killing another of my poor Dwarven stubby folk. :frowning: For shame.

Oh well, other than that seemed like a pretty good turn from what I’ve seen so far…haven’t seen a few turns yet though.

Typical Aussies… kicking US beer when it’s down…

Lots of good brew in the USA - try some of the smaller breweries instead of the megacorps. The Tri-State area has a bunch that are quite drinkable and readily available.

Even better, go for the good bourbon. Pappy Van Winkle, Rare Breed (the good side of Wild Turkey) or, for a serious assault on your liver, my sentimental favorite Old Grand Dad 114.

Damn, now I’m thirsty…

Hi Darrel,

you should have waited a bit with your post. It is now turn 5 and Ji Indur has been taken to the final bean counting contest. At 1.534.234 he lost count and died of a heart attack…

…or a knife in the back.

So far the death count is very faivorable for the FP.

What hurts more loosing Ji Indur or loosing the NW to the freep?

Martin, senior bean counter

Ooof, yes indeed…I am glad to exchange one of my stubby folk for Ji Indur.
Just call me the tethered goat.

Elf baiter, you might want to call your cousin in mordor and see if he can line you up a place to stay…your neighborhood is growing decidedly inhospitable.

I notice no one on the FP team has posted since turn 5 has run.

Any of you care to weigh in?

The array of DS icons in Harad is pretty impressive.
You’ve recovered most of the good artifacts. (Our starting spells were REALLY bad so not much we could do there)
You hold the west pass.
Dragon Lord still has Goblin Gate and his capital and it’s turn 5.
Steel buyout was modestly successful for you.

76.58kg

Regards Herman

I can now answer these questions.

  1. Yes, a little bored. The main goal was early damage to rhudaur.
  2. No. We’ve lost nothing other than a short reprieve for Goblin Gate, well worth the rapid annihilation of Rhuduar and the WK is going to go away fast.

I think this game is starting to get away from the DS.
