2950 Game 28

Yes, I have to say that worked nicely if it was at 88. Conversely my MT is still kicking despite two turns of repeated attempts. Will it last another? Keep your guys there and keep trying. Weā€™ll just keep offing your MTs while youā€™re at it.

Duns

dude, weā€™re trying and failing. And we sorta donā€™t have any choice but to keep tryinā€™; we lose Rohan and itā€™s a mighty steep hill to climb. Right now, weā€™re ecstatic if our purchase orders donā€™t fail  for real!

Have the DS surrendered yet?

  • Steve M.

youā€™re gonna have to do better than take our left arm and right leg. Howā€™s Hesnef doing these days? Oh I know, as good as the Corsairs!

Ji and friends,
ps. vargaelas, RIP

Hey! You finally got it! I even boosted loyalty on you a bit, but you must have had a few 525s work this time. Congrats, and make sure you keep the streets clean, 'cuz Iā€™ll be taking it back soon. :p:bash:

Okey-doke. Weā€™ll be coming for the other two shortly.

Enion and crew

So Boyz of Mirkwood, Our battle of Ineptitude is a draw. We each come away w/nothing except a cold and a bandaide. Perhaps youā€™ll catch pnemonia in our next meeting and no bandaids will be needed.:bash:

Muzzy

One expensive paycheck no longer on the books. Thank you.

If only youā€™d taken out the Army, too, then I could be donating money to the cause for a change.

I hope you learned a valuable lesson here; never, ever put backups in armies!

So, have the DS surrendered yet?

Really, how much longer are the DS going to make us pay cash to ME Games for this farce? I feel like weā€™ve got Joe Montana and itā€™s Super Bowl XIX all over again, except Marinoā€™s not getting his 300 yards this game.

  • Steve M.

I think Joe threw an interception, to the FK! Hope that army is big enough to retake Pelargir and get 18000 timber back  (but i think not;)) So, you feel pretty good about taking some capitals, do you? Can you count? we took 2 t-w-o MTā€™s this turn and you took 1, thatā€™s o-n-e. This turn you guys get a real chance at prooving your worth. You have enjoyed much success at stealing from those who were indifferent or had a mild dislike of you, but now youā€™ve gone big time, because I H-A-T-E you all! :bash::smiley:

For all of you visiting, I offer you amnesty of life to move on, else youā€™ll all be resting w/those Corsairs comms that keep showing up here and there

Ji and Friends

:: sigh ::

Iā€™ll take that as a ā€œNoā€.

  • Steve M.

Um, well Ji, thanks for sparing our lives at your capital, sorry we couldnā€™t do the same for your people there, or for that matter your capital, oh and another of your MTs, yes thatā€™s t-w-o MTs taken to your o-n-e

Jon

LOL,
but that o-n-e was a sweeeet one indeed. bye-bye Corsairs!

Ji

Ok, my gloating was limited to one MT and one line. Kudos to you all for the work at my capital! I did all I could to hold it, just couldnā€™t match Alezru or should I say we never could win the 50/50 stuff in this game. Nonetheless, you guys had a fine strategy and we needed more time to counter it. Yes, needed as in past tense, as in you guys win. Our team would like to congratulate you all on some fine team play. And we look forward to meeting up again for future battles.

Overall, I thought our team rebounded from a very rough start regarding challenges and troop losses. We had a tough time coming together on what was important and that slowed our effort and strengthened yours. Without question, the most devasting part of your strategy was your emmys. Add in we lost the WK to bankrupcty when he was doing great! But this game is about the little details too. The WW position did not help us as he had 3 SS turns and to be honest, I think if that position had been more communicative, then our team would have been more receptive to his needs when you guys swarmed him. And finally, when you guys arrived at my cap (without invitations:mad:) this was our last stand. Well done!

See you all in other games,
Dan Cosby, CL

Hi Dan,

I was beginning to think that weā€™d let our advantage slip, you had been catching up well over the last few turns with some great work by Cl and LR (probably others but they were the most obvious), I think your efforts to save the WW cost you dear, Iā€™ll gather my stuff and post a summary of the game from our viewpoint if you likeā€¦

Oh, by the way, Corsairs got your backup MT so they are very much alive and kicking!

Jon
NM/Nol

Yeah, I ssā€™d three times, which is more in one game than I have ever done the entire time Iā€™ve been playing this game.

I lost interest in the game the instant I realized that there was very little direction on the Dark Servant team. For a neutral to join the team and then start dictating what people should do is not the best way to make an impression - so I just played my part and did what I could with the support I received.

If you are going to start critcizing poor play perhaps you should look in the mirror first.

  • Ben

Hey Dan,

Well, if this is really it, I would like to echo Jonā€™s thoughts and say thanks for a hard-fought game on your end, particularly in the last few turns. I donā€™t know much about what went on behind the scenes with the DS (hopefully, once itā€™s official, we can all discuss some of the key moves/events in the game from everyoneā€™s perspective), but I would note that WWā€™s communication style from the outset (by insisting that all diplo take place on the board) and, as I understand it, ā€œsurpriseā€ declaration for the DS would seem to indicate a lack of team play (not saying you canā€™t be a team player, Ben, just my impression of this game as an admitted outsider ā€“ I freely admit this may be a misperception on my part and there may be many other reasons of which I know nothing).

I donā€™t know how cohesive the rest of the DS was this game, but the FP in this game was most definitely a very cohesive team, with all players often doing things at much sacrifice to their nation for the betterment of the team. It was a major reason why I opted to go Free.

In any event, Iā€™ll post my congrats to my teammates, thanks to the DS, and more thoughts on the game once an official message goes out that itā€™s over.

Best,
Mark (Duns)

I call it like I see it. The FACT is our entire team was surprised by your declaration, but we welcomed your presence nonetheless.(as we needed experience and help) With zero dialog and then 3 special service turns, I call that piss poor individual play on your part, forget the teamwork aspect. If your intention is to blame the inexperienced players on our team for your 3 special service turns and lack of dialog, I call that chicken sā€”!

Each game brings different challenges, just not every player rises to address the challenges. I have no problem looking in the mirror after this game. Can you honestly say you feel the same ?

Dan

There were times when several of us felt we were turning the corner and then something else inhouse would put a damper on things. Itā€™s most unfortunate about us not being able to take out the Corsairs, but that is a credit to your team and to the Corsair player for hanging in there and not quitting as we know if was tough on him as well. I have no problem sharing any pdfs and I only have one question of you guys, How many emmys hit the WW capital? that was a critical play at the time.

Dan
CL

The fact is that you called me out on my play without having examined your play first. It is not my place as a neutral to join a side and then dictate how that team should play. The DS team clearly ā€˜lacked direction.ā€™ This is not an indication that any particular player played their nation well or poorly rather it is clearly indicative that the entire DS Team, myself included once I joined, was unable to pick any single strategy and stick with it.

I made my needs and intentions clear, that I would hold Angrenost and attempt to take 1922 as quickly as possible. I did the best I could with the support I received. Again, if you are going to call out individual performances, start with yourself. I played poorly. I SSā€™d a number of turns.

You did no better.

The game is over and I am done making comments on it.
