Game 225 - War Begins

Well, her reaction is not surprising when considering WHOSE daughter she is.

Russ

Can we get back on topic here?

Elves Suck!

  • Lord Urzahil

But there is a new Glosfana OvariesRust! Find it if you can. A pity the DS curse squad had no one to kill once they were there, and they let Gondor take a full breath at Minas Tirith to prepare for the assault.

Meanwhile, we’ll regain a foothold in Mordor when the Dragon Lord loses Ostigurth this turn. Thanks for improving it to a City for us.

And since we’ll be taking Pelargir back very soon, your offensive will be for nothing.

– Gildring

I want to see that extended version. I know they have a few scenes with Boromir retaking Osgilaith in there. Is it impressive?

<<But there is a new Glosfana OvariesRust! Find it if you can. >>

  • Oh, no!! We all certainly remember what happened when you had the first Glosfana. Oh yeah, wait, NOTHING.

  • Was wondering . . . since Sangarunya has been driven out of his home, could you talk Elrond into giving him a spare room? That is, of course, assuming Sangarunya can stand listening to you hammer Elrond’s ā€œSecret Starā€ all night and day. You Star-Hammering turkey, you!

  • Can’t tell you just yet. I fell asleep after about 20 minutes into the film last night! I’ll probably have to wait until Sunday night before I can actually sit down and WATCH the thing. Working for a living sux. Even more than elves!

-Russ

Yes, we have promised a new home to Sangarunya, but it is nowhere near Elven lands.

He insisted on Sturlursta Khand and he will get his wish.

Concerning Glosfana, it didn’t do as much for me as I’d hoped. But it cost the DS a couple of battles, MTowns and capitals under seige, and resources in finding it, revealing it, and taking it. Doing so has allowed the defenses of Ostigurth to be weakened to the point where we can take it, along with Minas Durlith. Make that TWO footholds in inner Mordor.

And with footholds, we can go stomping. Look at all those pretty unfortified pop. centers in Mordor! hahaha!

if you have the time i recommend sitting down and watching both special editions back to back, it makes for superb viewing.

The TT SE like the FotR one fleshes the whole movie out and makes it a far better film for it.

I can’t wait til this time next year when i can watch all three back to back

Ostigurth for Tirith? i suppose it’s a fair swap.

The difference is it’ll be easier for us to retake Ostigurth than it will be for you guys to retake Tirith.

First you’ve had to relocate the Corsairs, now NG, i hope you aren’t going to run out of back-ups to give away to your gimp allies?

Akhorahil

You don’t have Minas Tirith yet. And I don’t see your armies taking it. But if you have the warmachines I’ll have to eat my elvish hat.

– gildring

We figure 112 War Machines would be enough to make you eat your hat.

-Ovatharuss
Emperor of Khandumbargondor

I suppose what you’ve done with the market has allowed you to conserve every unit of timber since turn 1. You would need over 80,000 units of timber to build the bridge and the warmachines in Ovatha’s army and at Minas Tirith.

Or perhaps you’ve sold and bought as we have done. Whatever happens at Minas Tirith, we’ll payback. And NGondor will still be around.

– Gildring

Minas Tirith is lost, Gilders old-boy…tarks suck too!

DENDRA the Undead.

Lost, huh? So are you Dendra, so are you…

–Gildring

We`ll see

How good are your scouts, btw?

Either way, i am undead and will survive in some form.

DENDRA the Brave

What were Elrond and his effete sidekick ā€œGeldring the Feyā€ playing at? Thought Denethor.
Not only had the self-styled King of the Elves championed a dirty saddle-tramp as King of Arnor and the Gondors–[over my dead body said the Steward to his sons;
"Ill burn this city down and leap on the pyre before i hand over the keys to some smelly ranger!"]--the Elf had advised the Council Of Elrond [tm] that an assault on Mordor via the backwaters of Rhun was the best course of action in prosecuting the War of the Ring. Meanwhile Gondor was being over-run, the lesser towns were in open-rebellion, even Pelargir had gone over to Saurons side.
What a mess; diplomacy, politics and warfare
were all being sacrificed to suit the whim of an elf who lived in security hundreds of
leagues from the front! At the first sign of defeat the flouncing half-elf would gather his baggage
train of fine clothes, looted treasures and effeminate wood-elf hangers-on and head for the grey havens!
Doom had reached the House of the Stewards itself;his father Ecthelion had been poisoned
by assassins at Osgiliath, and his [admittedly lesser] son Faramir had been consumed by
a rampaging case of Morgul flu. No doubt the foul work of Saurons Sorcerors. Many others of the
nobility had been despatched too, who knew where assassins might be lurking. Some help came from
Dol Amroth, but they too were hard pressed, and the Corsairs [who he himself had bought loyalty from
with dwarven gold and promises of legitimacy at the Council] were being forced from their own lands
instead of recapturing the old empire…
He himself had had to return to the previously unassailable citadel of Minas
Tirith to oversee itsdefence from the hordes of the Ice King and the Fire King. There were more than 4000 orcs encamped around the white city. He could not dare to attack them and win. He would have to sit out the siege and pray for relief from his neighbours. But the citizenry were calling out for their saviour; his number 1 son; Boromir. His first born, and heir to Gondor [at least if he had anything to do with it] was in Harad. Reports of victories cheered him and the desperate populace, but he wondered now about the wisdom of an offensive in harad when things were so fraught at home. What if the people of Minas Tirith rebelled against his authoritarian rule and wanted a taste of the democracy that The Peoples Republic of Mordor offered? What then for
Gondor? It could lead to the ā€œdomino effectā€ that the Council of Elrond warned about
if this democracy was not thwarted at all costs. This, said Elrond, was why he
championed the ranger, Aragorn, as a unifying force. The Great Dictator. Albeit a
dictator in name only; he`d be the figurehead for the Council to rule things as the
always had; through conspiracy and deceit and fear. The red tide from the east
had to be stopped before the populace found out the truth of the matter…
Denethor sat and stared into his fire, how pretty the flames were, how welcoming their arms might
be if the marauders stormed the citadel. He wondered if it would be quick…

Scoreboard t19;

Some recent success has seen the free make some inroads to their deficit, however we have the
following ā€œscoresā€:

FREEPS: 48 dead, 7 captured.
DARKS: 21 dead, 6 captured.

The darks had something of a rest last turn, whereas the free uber-agent squad killed three
[including REN] at Barad-Ungol last turn. Having a quick look at my figures North GOndor has
been hardest hit [as Denethor can attest] with 7 killed and 2 missing. The Dwarves and White
Wizard have lost 6 apiece, whilst the Corsairs have lost 5 and are missing 2. For the Darks;
the dog lord and rhun easterlings have lost 4 characters each. Only the Dunadan Rangers have
all their characters intact.

DOG LORD

How good are your scouts, btw?

If you have to ask, you are in trouble…

– Gildring

<<Only the Dunadan Rangers have
all their characters intact. >>

Dog,

I have all my original characters. Don’t you remember the Corsairs so kindly letting Urig go? I repayed their kindness by CAPTURING their capital instead of burning it to the ground.

-Ovatharuss Starkicker
King of KhanDumbar and Dumbarer

Many apologies…it was no forewarning. I promise. Indeed i foresee a number of assassinations on enemy characters this turn…
