Game 225 - War Begins

So far, only Free agents have been able to pierce through the defenses of a guard and assassinate their targets. And Nazog is one of the initial eight of the FK, so he should have been more than capable to defend his nazgul lord. It is a testiment to our superiority that he failed.

DS agents have not shown similar success against our lords.

And now that we match your power with spirit mastery, the slaves of Sauron will enjoy their last thrust against Minas Tirith and face bitter defeat.

– Gildring

I for one am looking forward to your efforts at Morannon this week. It should be quite illuminating and may influence tactics for the coming campaign…i don`t envisage that mission will be an easy task. Harder than at Barad-Ungol, perhaps similar results as Minas Morgul. I have to say you are very brave bringing your premium groups into our capitals. however we know it is merely a distraction, you cannot hope to defeat us in this manner, merely slow us down!

DENDRA the Fearless

Don’t worry Dendra, our premiere groups can do more than hit DS capitals…

Yeah, they can hit DS villages as well! I’ve seen it done! Watch out!!!

-Ovatharuss

A village is more than what your capital soon will be…

That’s fine. I can rebuild in Umbar.

-Ovatharuss

We are building there also, but I think we’ll be in a better position to do it with our navies.

– Gildring

<<We are building there also,>>

Really? I don’t think the Corsairs have built ANYTHING in this area. Aside from that one village I trashed many moons ago.

<<but I think we’ll be in a better position to do it with our navies. >>

Not really as navies can only land in shore/plains hexes. Cors has a harbor or 2 left, sure, but not for long.

-Ovatharuss

But you are forgetting about the “make shore” spells that Free mages can learn. It turns hills and rough into golf courses…

– Gildring the golfer

Golf courses are a bit too green for our tastes. We prefer parking lots and empty warehouses! Let the fires of industry begin! Soon, all of middle earth will be a sprawling, flaming urban sprawl!!

Doom,doom,doom…another one bites the dust!

Dendra the musically challenged, but still undead.

No final words from Roberto?

Well played. See you again soon.

Since when are you in this game Goldschlager? Until now I didn’t know I was going to have the pleasure of defeating you.

Dendra, I hope your doom drum beat was in response to the loss of yet another nazgul lord. The Second has fallen, and seven more to go. Now, let’s see if you can save Morannon.

Master Elrond bid me to recite this message to the armies gathered at Minas Tirith:

Surrender-- we have you surrounded!

– Pelnimloth of Elostirion

I’ve been here for a long while. Watching. Waiting.

Do I know you? Were you on the wrong side of one of my previous victories?

Yes, I was known as Denethor then and I threw myself on the pyre as dark forces gathered outside Minas Tirith in Game 227, I believe.

I’m surprised to see you so quiet in this contest. I know you are not playing the Dragon Lord this time around because we’d still be chasing you around Mirkwood, cursing you to within 4 points of your death, and then cursing your name everlastingly. Our side commented that you played brilliantly throughout.

Anyway, it’s Payback now. Papa’s got a brand new bag.

Nick

Goldschlager is the silent “Power behind the throne”. Fitting since too much Goldschlager sends me “kneeling” before the PORCELAIN throne. Don’t tell Goldy, but “Midori” is now the true king in my house!

Roberto, good gaming with you. I hope you didn’t take any of my nonsense ramblings too seriously! I enjoyed exchanging “trash talk” with you. Hope to meet you again!

(Nick, please pass our well wishes on to Roberto if he’s not checking the boards anymore. )

<<Master Elrond bid me to recite this message to the armies gathered at Minas Tirith:

It’s easy for Mister Elrond to spew this trash sitting “safe” in his home hidden deep in the woods. When Man begins to see through the Elven lies, their only comfort will be in knowing that the Elves will eventually suffer the same fate as Man faces now. A victory here and there in no-name backwoods Mordor towns and villages may be nice for your morale, but eventually this morale will fade away just as your grip on the West slowly crumbles to dust. Umbar has fallen, Gondor is teetering, Rhun is a wasteland, and your Mirkwood victories have gained you little. The War Engine that is Mordor will soon reach its zenith and the Free will stand no chance. Our economies match, or perhaps even surpass, the famous Free economies, our agents are coming into fruition, and . . . ah, you get the point, yes? Short and simple: You will die. Your lands will be mine.

-Mighty Ovatharuss
Emperor of Khandumbar

OvaryRust,

Before I dispute every one of your claims, let me say that Roberto wears a cloak of many colors. I can’t get rid of him! No matter how I deprive him of support, he gets reborn as another nation.

But I should let him introduce himself, again. He picked up the Corsairs from a newbie who dropped (we’ve had more than one this game) and had a tough time catching up.

Now, where are those 112 warmachines I heard so much about? Minas Tirith still stands. Zaken does not.

You claim Rhun is a wasteland. Tell that to Maximus who will get squashed by superior dwarven forces at Dilgul this turn. Dilgul-- that’s the CITY/Fort under Dwarven rule; it’s hardly a wasteland. South of this Dwarven stronghold, the reach of the Free has extended even into Mordor: Ostigurth is ours in days, Minas Durlith is now firmly in our grip, Lug Ghurzun has held against Adunaphel and will hold again. While the DS have the following defeats to mull: Khand Amu is rubble and Free armies march on Sturlutsu Khand (picking off two villages along the way)-- calling your own land a “backwater?”

Umbar has fallen. Inded it is a pity, but we will salvage what we can and avenge the loss.

Regarding economies-- the gold you have we can and will steal. Witness what ONE of our lesser agents did at Barad Ungol last month: 9,000 and chump change. The others would have joined in the plunder, but they were too busy KILLING Ren and his flunkies. ha ha ha!

– Gildring at the Black Gate

Gildring,

Hmmmm…I think it was 230, not 227. That was my last outing as the Dragon Lord, and my last open game. (which is essentially what this is, too).

Anyhoo, I’m glad to hear that I strike fear into your heart.

I have not been terribly active in this game due to outside commitments, but all that is about to change. Keep the vaseline handy.
