Game 225 - War Begins

<<Now, where are those 112 warmachines I heard so much about?>>

Gildring,
I told you this was how many warmachines, in my calculation, that it would take for you to eat your hat. I never said we HAD 112 war machines. But I won’t say that we don’t have 112 war machines this turn. Nor will I say we do. Infer what you wish.

<<calling your own land a “backwater?” >>

Well, it is! Why do you think I took Umbar? Prime seaside real estate!

<<and my last open game. (which is essentially what this is, too). >>

Goldschlager, wake up. This is a grudge game, not an “open game”. Yes, you actually CHOSE to play with us!

Gildring, one of the points of grudge games is so that you WON’T get newbies who drop! What gives? This IS a grudge game, right? Now my own memory is getting fuzzy. I guess it has to be a grudge since it was 12 vs 12 from the start. You guys are confusing me . . .

Ovatharustarunya

Hey, were having ourselves quite a game here, arent we? A bit like a flyweight boxing match so far–lots of counter punching, but only two knockdowns so far--both freep nations. Arent we suppose to be the team under pressure? Oh well, no doubt youll rollover Morannon soon. Perhaps ill have to relocate to sunnier climes…

Dendra, Dog Lord of Harad.

<<You claim Rhun is a wasteland. Tell that to Maximus who will get squashed by superior dwarven forces at Dilgul this turn. Dilgul-- that’s the CITY/Fort under Dwarven rule;>>

IF Dwarves are waste of skin, bone, and air (which they are), THEN any land that is a “dwarven land” is, by definition, a “WASTE Land”. Thank you.

Dendra you lucky b****d! You won’t get away next time. I suggest you hire better guards. Or why don’t you have your top agents guard each other, so I can kill them all in one night’s work! Not that Aragorn will pay more though… mutters

I wonder who’ll die this fortnight? Let me see. There are so many to choose from. So many nazgul to go. So many mages with shiny trinkets. Let’s kill 'em all and let Valar sort 'em out!

We miss old G-man up here in Bree, trying to steal Barliman’s earnings from the prancing pony every night. But we understand the need to help out in Mirkwood. That new guy isn’t quite the same. Couldn’t even keep his hands away from the barmaids, so Encalion the drunken old fool of a mage got into a fist fight trying so defend the wrench’s honour. His fireballs aren’t what they used to be, especially not after ten pints of Barliman’s best brew. I might ask a friend back home to kill your little agent in training. We’ll see if he’s worth it.

I always said that Corsair king wasn’t quite dry behind the ears yet… But who would listen? All of them high lords won’t listen to a lowly assassin, will they? Bah… Never trusted them southlings anyway. Give Umbar to the Haradrim I say. Let the sun fry them.

Pretty stupid to attack Minas Tirith while Mordor is burning, isn’t it? Whatcha gonna do? Bleed on the walls? Its all according to the plan. Rebuild Arnor, let Gondors spendour fade a little, have Aragorn my master reunite the kingdoms of men and go troll huntin’ in that desert dump called Mordor.

Our allies the Dwarves are a lot more than skin, bone and air, as you have seen. Southlings on the other are not only a waste, they ARE skin, bone and air! That’s why those war axes cleave right through them…

Blah blah blah, worthless elven dribble. And now the useless Dunedain spew forth their garbage.

I’m the everchanging!!
You can’t kill me! Before it happens someone else step by side to let me take take his nation, to let me survive!!!

You have killed 2 PL nations so far… both of the were played by me, you should be grateful!!!

A part from kiddin’… I’m happy to meet again Goldy. I’ve been quite impressed by his skills in game 230. If we staqnd so well in fron of such brilliant players we must be brilliant as well… oh, gosh… my teammates, at least! :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW, was this really a grudge game? I must have forgot to advise Simone (the former Corsair) of this… I suppose I also forgot to advise him that he was playing with us and that he wasn’t a neutral any more!!!
The other drop we had is nothing to laugh about: he’s been called to serve in the Marines in Iraq. I really hope he is well…

To end: who was that DS mathematician who kept so well the record of assassinations?? I think he should update his record…
We told you not to claim victory too early…

Good gaming to all

Roberto, king of Mirkwood (please, don’t put pressure on the SIlvan now!!! If I let die the third nation in a row no one will ever want to play with me anymore!!! I can pay you if you spare me! )

He he… We keep Roberto on the team to even out the odds… Interpret any way you want…

I`m still keeping the stats, in my sad anal [not that way!] way.
We are well ahead. check how many armies went poof this turn…how many characters do the mini gondors have now?

Krusnak the dead

Glad that Aragorn feels confident to jump aboard with his taunts…you do KNOW we can see what you`re doing up there?

Dendra the not-dead.
for a reason.

Yeah, glad my teammates could chime in. I’m a major windbag, but it was getting rough holding my own in here.

By the way, where is Shoglic? I haven’t seen him in a while and I’d like to tease him about Zaken. Looks like you guys are having major trouble holding on to your agent artifacts.

At this rate, all told, we’ll be able to kill 11 DS characters a turn.

– Gildring

That’s fine, you keep killing characters, we’ll keep killing nations.

<<The other drop we had is nothing to laugh about: he’s been called to serve in the Marines in Iraq. I really hope he is well… >>

I’m certainly sorry to hear that. I wish him well.

As for this “Simone” guy, I’ll make sure to steer clear of him if ever we meet.

Roberto, good to have you back. My only lament is that the Silvan are SOO far away from me.

To think about it . . .you really ARE “Roberto-Weed”. We stamp you out, hopefully for good, and you pop up again elsewhere!!!

It’s nice that Aragorn could join our little chat. How much is Gildring paying you to get his back? “Get his back”? Ugh, I really don’t want to think about that. More elven weirdo sickness!!!

Dendra, I know Tonn V.'s army went bye-bye, as did Krusnak’s. Two out of three isn’t bad. And I haven’t seen the Sinda report yet, but I believe Grashukh and his army were steamrolled. That would make it three armies and army commanders who went poof within the last month. Then let’s not forget Ren and his lackey at Cirith Ungol. Another poof.

Unfortunately for you Angurth the one-horned won’t be saving your armies any time soon.

This turn Agarwaen will also die after a crushing defeat outside The Black Gate, which will be either captured or destroyed as well.

Minas Morgul isn’t even worth mentioning. But loss of armies and army commanders should be expected.

Not bad for a month and a half. Looks like the pressure is building on Morannon, and wandering Bulrakur and Maximus Loserus are too far away to help.

Could the DS have over extended themselve in the rush to Minas Tirith? I think so.

– Gildring

Oh no! They know what we’re doing up here! They probably know about the secret gambling in Barliman’s cellar, and maybe they know of the secret “Sauron is a wuzz, Tom Bombadill for Dark Lord” campaign too! We aren’t really doing much up here as your agent spy must have already reported. Yes, a plan was laid out to take care of Barliman’s gold theft problem, but apart from that we’re mostly chilling out (cold up here) having barbeques, kissing Dunedain maidens and waiting for news of another nazgûl death to arrive.

Gildring can I please have some more of them shiny agent thingies that the DS are giving out for free! I promise to write many more messages!

Maybe I should come pay Minas Tirith a visit soon! I’d so much like to see the new look of the citadel wall, painted beautifully red with orcish blood! Or is that black? Black would be nice, I vote for black. Only kill orcs and trolls do you hear me! Don’t squash those southling mercenaries yet, we can grind them into lamp oil instead! Hmm, I think I may have a mean streak after all. Well, nobody’s perfect.

Aragorn

You’re right Gildring, Morgul isn’t worth mentioning, since there are no worries. Based on your track record of “success” during your last visit there I wouldn’t be saying too much either.

Perhaps your fork-tongued emissaries and bumbling agents would have been better served helping to keep some your allies in the game? We shall see. In the meantime I welcome your brief visit to my capital, the mountains are beautiful in the winter. Too bad you won’t get to see the spring.

Murazor

Poor Murazor,

Your best commanders are far from Morgul Vale, and the Lords of the West have come upon your stronghold.

You will know how effective our emissaries and agents are this fortnight.

– Gildring at The Black Gate

<<You will know how effective our emissaries and agents are this fortnight. >>

Now now, I think your “effectiveness” has already been well documented with your past failures.

Ovatharuss

Yeah, our record is almost as bad as the Cloud Lord’s and DkLts’. Losing the Ring of Wind, Ring of Impersonation, and now these lovely cloaks. Failing to assassinate at key moments, tsk tsk.

– Gildring

Once again, having all the agent artifacts in the world doesn’t stop nations from getting knocked out. Our mistakes have cost us characters and artifacts. Your’s have cost you the Northmen and Corsairs and soon North Gondor.
