Game 225 - War Begins

Taking your best artifacts, capturing your pop centers and killing your leaders are only the means to reach our goal, the total annihilation of the DS. We’re quite good at it and soon we’ll start knocking out nations as well. You won’t be manipulating the market for much longer. We lost the NM due to their vulnerable location, the fact that both easterling nations belonged to the dark side and good coordination from your side. At the same time as you blitzed the NE, we blitzed the NW. Both the WK and DrL are down on their knees despite your efforts, and all we have to do now is to chop their heads off once and for all. The Corsair story is already well known, and won’t get repeated. All remaining players are skilled and coordinated. Go ahead and beat yourselves bloody on the walls of Minas Tirith, NG isn’t going down anytime soon.

Ah, Pontus is it?
Now we know a thing or two…
Minas Tirith, walls, blood?
Why?
We can capture it if we want. This turn.
Perhaps we will.
Perhaps we`ll take another course of action.

While you waste your time in mordor, well be moving onto the next nation to take out. North Gondor is merely next in line. Whos after that? Btw; how many characters does North Gondor have left?

YES, YOU KNOW FEAR! Two things…? FEAR AND DESPAIR! Muhahaa!
I’ve lost both with and against you, so be afraid!
Both were pretty good games, I was just a little unlucky there, as dragon lord… It could have worked… IT COULD HAVE!

Yeah sure. We’ve heard that already. Go ahead and capture it, you might manage to capture one of the surrounding cottages.
Perhaps you won’t feel like capturing it? But you could have. Perhaps you’ll run home across the nice little bridge you built?

Ooooh! I wonder who that’ll be! I can imagine the SG player is shaking right now! And what if you go for the totally defenseless Rohan! Now that would be scary!

Nice playing with you again David! I’ll continue to enjoy this!

<<You won’t be manipulating the market for much longer.>>

Again with the market talk. I’ve asked you FP to explain to us how it works time and time again so we can use it, too! So which one of you purchased 4,000 bronze this turn? You’re a little bit in the red . . . Purchase at 3, sell for 1. Can we say “D’oh!!!” ? Congratulations on your steel manipulation, though. You FP did a top-notch job! I expect your corrupt corporate stock scandals will soon be uncovered, though!

-Ovatharuss

Yes, I must confess it is an exciting game. It takes skilled opponents to make it interesting, and you are all definitely that.

Now, Ovatharuss, I enjoyed your comment about market manipulation. I especially love it when the DS make mithril cheap enough for me to bu it by the cart-load.

Dendra, it pleases me that you are unconcerned about the defense of Mordor. That will make conquering it that much easier. But let’s face the truth, the DS overextended themselves with their blind lust for Minas Tirith. You take Minas Tirith, if you can, and we’ll take Mordor.

Will Minas Tirith hold? Well, since I haven’t seen those 112 warmachines, even if you have half that amount the Citadel will gold. Anborn refuses challenge and defends the City. All your artifacts get spent against him, and then your troops go splat against the walls. Your horrendous army morale and poor commanders might have something to do with your weak attack strength.

I’ll repeat once again, since Urzahil brought it up, that our 10 nations are stronger than your 12. And one of the reasons is the DS inability to hold on to their agent artifacts. None of you could hold out if we chose to concentrate our collected power on you. Currently, we’re just chipping away and setting you up for a swifter defeat.

I suggest you turn your glance away from Minas Tirith and focus on some defense, like you did against Glosfana, if you hope to remain alive a little longer.

– Gildring at The Black Gate

Blah blah blah, our ten nations are stronger… Great, will you still be saying that when it’s 12 on 9?

  • Ben
    Dark Lts.

Since NGondor will survive, the question is will you be staying when it’s 10-8?

–Gildring

So North Gondor will survive much in the same way you guys said the Northmen and Corsairs would survive, right? Nice…

  • Ben
    Dark Lts.

Well we lied. This time we’re prepared.

Last time you guys were prepared the Havens of Umbar were captured. I doubt anything has changed.

  • Ben
    Dark Lts.

See and believe.

We WERE prepared, but I suspect our defenses were undone by an insider. First the Northmen, now the Corsairs… I’m on to you Roberto!

– N.

<<Last time you guys were prepared the Havens of Umbar were captured.>>

I’ll never forget the brags about our “ineffective agents at Umbar” while 2700 Heavy Cavalry sat outside the gates. Sorry to bring it up, but it was a classic.

On a serious note, I hope you guys will want to share pdf’s with us after the game. I have some questions (and I’m guessing you guys do as well?)

<<We WERE prepared, but I suspect our defenses were undone by an insider. First the Northmen, now the Corsairs… I’m on to you Roberto! >>

Roberto, your cover has been compromised! You have served Mordor well as a double agent, but you must withdraw immediately! We’ll give you a new name and identity and set you up with with a nice Haven by the Sea. It’s the Mordor Witness Protection Plan! You’ve earned it.

-Ovatharuss

Down on my knees?!?! bahwahahaha!!

I suggest you take a good look at all my troops in the field before you make such rash statements. It is true that the start of the game was a rough one, but you guys missed your chance to take me out and you have been paying the price ever since. I trust your agents and emmissaries will be more effective than they were on their last visit, they certainly couldn’t do any worse. Regardless, it’s still a futile demonstration at this point.

Tirith will fall soon, with NG right behind it. I suggest you retreat to your homes in the hills (including the ones acquired from me early on) and await your doom. The heroes of Gundabad and Gram shall be avenged!! <play evil music here>

Murazor

What music will you play when Minas Morgul is brought down in late December?

Most of your troops are far from Morgul Vale Murazor.

– Gildring

OvathaRuss,

But it IS true that Carrog was ineffective. We watched him fail at the Havens. Unfortunately, the Khand army was well-prepared. But that doesn’t mean our comment about Carrog’s failure was untrue.

We’ll pay back the fall of the Havens and laugh louder once you see what we have prepared for you in the coming month. We’ve already taken Khand Amu, how many more DS capitals will fall this winter?

(And yes, let’s exchange pdf’s when it’s all over. We’ll just give you access to our yahoo group page and you can download them as you wish. One fact that is too good to keep hidden is that the DS had a chance to kill Elrond a few turns back due to a screw-up on my part with is movement/company orders. Dumb Gildring!)

Nick

<< But that doesn’t mean our comment about Carrog’s failure was untrue. >>

No, I never said it wasn’t true. The humor was in the idea that “who cares about agents, the place is toast”! In fact, I was hoping you were not aware of the presence of my army at all . . the agent comment certainly gave that impression. I was quite giddy about it until you finally mentioned my forces several days later. :frowning:

Russ

Well, we didn’t know you had warmachines in that big cav army (and we didn’t know it was cavalry either), and most of us thought that the MTown/Castle would hold because of the very high loyalty.

Looks like we’ve been wrong about quite a few things in this game! But that’s what makes MEPBM so darned interesting.

Nick

Well, being wrong is part of being a MEPBM genius. If you always play by the book and never make mistakes, you’re only halfway there.

But I sincerely think we’re prepared this time. NG won’t go down anytime soon. Minas Tirith might go down if you have those 118 WM. If it does, it’s sad but not a big deal. I suspect you’ll chose not to attack, although you could have… You’ll just not feel like it…

Gildring go to bed now! You have a war to plan tomorrow!

Just because you’re the future King of Gondor doesn’t mean you get to boss me around! I may only be an elf in Elrond’s house, but I don’t have a curfew. Damn Numenoreans!

It won’t take much to plan the downfall of The Black Gate.

Hey! I just realized it has to be a lot later in Sweden. You go to bed!
