Game 225 - War Begins

I did. I’m ready to pour over them in search of clues…

Dont worry, Gildring’s skull is now resting comfortably at the foot of Sauron’s thrown! He got into Mordor, feet first as they say!!

Shoglic for Ji Indur

Shoglic,

Don’t forget . . . I said “Gildring’s *** is mine!” That wasn’t just an expression. I expect delivery of said part soon. I’m going to hang one cheek in Khand and the other in Umbar. All residents will be required to kick it as they enter and leave town.

-Ovatharuss the Crazed

Hey Gildring! What’d ya think about the DL nation not counting anymore? I’d say not two, but THREE run in’s with Angurth in four turns might just be a record! I must say that it’s been hard to hold in the chortling in the land of the Dragon.

Anyway, we were especially pleased with the tasty elven snacks in the shiny metal casings. And, who is to say that we don’t ALREADY have another dragon in another army waiting for you in Mordor? Thank you for the entertainment at Khamul’s wake!

It was a true pleasure to curse Galadriel. I wonder how many more big characters and artifacts we’ll wrest from your hands this turn?

Duran the Slippery

Remember, Noldor captains are plenty. Of the Nazgul there are only nine, or seven now, since Ren and Khamul are no more.

But congratulations Duran. You stalled the elven campaign into Mordor and managed to get yourself captured while also losing Pectoral.

Without Angurth the DS would be faced with the loss of Morannon, Durthang, Minas Morgul, 3222, and possibly Barad Ungol.

Angurth hangs out at Sarn Goriwing. The next one of your characters who shows up there will surely lose his head.

Master Elrond

Heh! It was worth every second of getting losing Khamul and getting Duran captured to imagine the collective look on the FP team’s face when the battle results came in at 3120 and Galadriel bit it!

Good work on the big push into Mordor! Very nicely done and very well organized and supported done but not enough.

Plus, we don’t really need to go to Sarn Gorwing, there are plenty of other dragon hexes!

Duran

And you may notice that we control most of those dragon infested areas-- in the Misty Mountains and in Northern Mordor.

Duran, you forgot to mention the fall of Minas Morgul. Attacking from multiple areas, I knew we would succeed at one or more.

The Morannon Plan failed to accomplish its goals, but we DID succeed in forcing the DS on the defensive, destroying old Thuringwathost, killing Krusnak and Tonn Varthkur, and wiping out the Mordor hordes there. It will take you many turns to build a force sufficient to mount a coutner offensive. And we have not been idle while you have lost armies.

Rohan, the Dunadan Rangers, and the White Wizard are well-prepared for you, as are both Gondors.

Over the next few turns, we shall see the DS still controlling Mordor, though they will be under attack. And almost all DS forces west of the Anduin will be routed.

Hope you’re prepared for a long contest.

Master Elrond

Well, it was most annoying to see that your bragging was justified for a change. The loss of Morgul is most annoying but we’ll just add it to the list of cities to be avenged. My friend the FK will start by eliminating the SG army and their war machines this turn. Well played.

Needless to say I am still in the game. It will be a long fight, but the longer we go on with a 2-nation edge, the better it is for us. Slowly we are gaining the upper hand.

Murazor (Jim)

I still maintain it was very lucky for you guys to have recruited Angurth 3 times in 4 turns. Unbelieveable really. I can understand once, but I thought we were clear once the Rohan hit the DrL at 3018.

One of our players reportedly sent in his orders on time but got Special Serviced because Harly’s server sent his turn back unread. They are reviewing the issue now. If they decide to rewrite the turn, it could be big for us.

But I won’t take anything away from your play-- you have made the right moves when you had to.

Nick

I hope they wouldn’t allow any order changes to the rest of the nations and would only accept the turn that was originally sent in by the delinquent player. Harley does make it a point, though, to get orders in early and that if you have NOT received a “receipt” then they don’t have your orders. I’ll be very surprised if they rerun the turn. Possibly annoyed as well, but I would need more info on the incident before jumping to such a conclusion.

Keep us posted,

Russ

I don’t know if the turn was sent in on time or not. He thought he sent it in on time, but couldn’t wait for the receipt. My guess is the turn probably won’t be rerun. You probably can guess what nation I’m talking about from your results.

Nick

Maybe the one whose armies didn`t move…

DENDRA the Disdainful

I could be cruel and say that it’s yet another example of FP ineptitude and that it’s another sign the DS will triumph. But I’m a nice guy so I won’t say it.

-Ovatharuss

Ovatharuss-- you may be right, but I predict it will take us until Turn 52 to see who wins this one.

– Master Elrond

That would be something. As it stands, I’ve never seen a game go 30 turns even.

I have seen them end turn 7. Oh yeah, you were there too.

russ

And I still think it was luck to recruit Angurth that many times in such a short span!

Thinking of what coulda been if it hadn’t been for that meddling dragon…

Against the German team, the Scandinavian team won a full victory ON turn 52… Phew… Close call…

I hope to repeat that!
