Chapter 8 - Hey, who changed all my orders without telling me?
Chapter 9 - We tried, we died…
Conclusion - it was a lot of fun, especially the time we got orders from another game and thought it came from the DS in this game. Ha! That was hilarious! Of course, the sky fell in from there and it all came crashing down. We started bickering and 3 players dropped. Beawyn eventually located the One Ring later on, but after 3 nations got kidnapped to elimination the following turn we finally decided to hang our hats and run for the hills.
hey,
i still drove that northmen commander into the rider army, with the knowledge you intended to dispatch somebody to dispatch the commander. actually, i didnt change any orders, despite some counter measures my nations took that were unnecessary, and in the above case. i walked into the trap, knowing of its existence.
at what price victory, or is that stupidity?
as far as what price…
so the one turn we didnt track din othar was the turn he was in the hex with gildor. that error cost us gildor, and a few desirable artifacts. since we forgot to put the space in “din o”, should we get a do over? do we call it anything other then data entry error? the breaks, chance, stupidity?
drew, i understand your point. i file what happened concerning the errant mail as " the breaks". you draw the line in one spot, i draw it in another. we can chase our tails on where the line should be drawn, and never agree.
haven’t looked, but if you’re talking about what I think you’re talking about, well…it had to be done, no? shame. senseless death, no honour there, no honour…
2 to 1, 7 rounds. My guy must have been drinking… Better to be lucky than good, yes? I see you’ve finally kicked me out of Umbar. That’s fine, you’ll never kick me out of Rhun.
For the voyeurs, we thought we had the DS on the ropes, about to burn 3 capitals, a while back. Got 1. Some luck, and some boneheaded “Duh!” play on our part. Sauron showed up too, ba$tard… DS have since cleared Umbar of their natives in retaliation for our early conquering of the North Bank. Rhu/Angmar is about to end as we finally finish the job at Mt Gram. 2703 gone too. Sarn G gone. The front is pretty level, Mordor and the South vs the Rest of the Map. DS haven’t been spectacular with kills/kidnaps but solid. Cursers in protection mode as icon after icon waves at Modor, but no killing blow entering post-Morannon burning.
The game has settled in to the mid-game quite nicely. I believe both sides are enjoying the contest. Some mistakes likely both ways, c’est la vie. Who has What in Store for Whom…is the question of the day, I expect. Game plans likley more apparent for the DS than the FP, but then with the FP it’s usually all about “Okay, who has any commanders left? Okay, great! YOU build armies and send them to Mordor!”…
it took some time, but your out of angmar. nice pets broggha. twin dragons at 3120. deploy dragon enhanced blocking armies(hired for free) at 3120, backed by curses and agents. 5 cursers, impressive.
look fire king has a worm at 3124. yippee. decent buyout of mithril, 19 point gain, but you all have nice fat cash reserves. well done.
too bad ji wasn’t carrying more fish on his string, was hoping to get more then mahrcared back.
ignore that icon sneaking up on 3822, its nothing really.
They’ve drawn their line in the mountains. I lost count of our icons en route, wonder if they’ll catch them all? Wonder if they’ll catch the right ones…??
Ji’s pretty sure that he should have washed his robes before going off to that secret meeting. No point being invisible if people can track you by the reek you leave behind…
As far as the rest of it goes, that is a pretty impressive wave of armies accumulating before the doors of Mordor… a great pity that so many men will never return to the green hills of home, but end their days as dragon chow. Of course, that’s if they don’t scatter and break up first due to mysteriously ill leaders…
I see you’ve regrouped and gotten some confidence back. All that large group awareness training, flickering lights and continuous chanting in the background has reinvigorated your committment. Good to see.
Yes, it is an impressive wave of armies. And you won’t get them all… Good luck!
Throwing yourself in front of the bus is an overrated strategy, actually. Now that we know that the Noldo are so eager to send everyone away from home, maybe we’ll pay them a visit…
