Bump to top.
Interesting question.
Firstly, I think it’s because you two are always so serious about the game that the banter aspect seemed likely to suffer a bit.
Secondly, I’ve been going through some life changes which kind of have me occupied in a manner sufficient to interfere with the kind of free time I might have normally spent on the forums.
Thirdly, when I played on your team in Game 27, we used banter as a weapon, and it worked well. Which highlights your “showing your poker hand” analogy above.
So, I guess, the Reader’s Digest version is: I haven’t been motivated to bant.

Yeah, but you always think that.
Except you’re not playing against a textbook strategy in this game, so the basis for your expectations may be flawed.
Time alone shall tell this tale.

When I play the DS, I think they should win.
My expectations and opinions have nothing to do with the DS strategy.
I have NO ILLUSIONS about the basis of my expectations. The word “flawed” doesn’t even begin to quantify “the basis” of my expectations.
Glad to see someone can talk some smack around here.
Merry Christmas to the opposition, and Happy New Year… well in some aspects I hope not so happy
Prince Ovatha IV
Ah what nice presents you sent us. We do appreciate them. And you even put a nice big bow on the doors to Osgiliath for us. And the sweet little riverside village is very romantic.
I hope you enjoyed the ones we sent you. I must admit the presents we sent to the Echtalion II quadruplets got coughed on by Lingridhon while she was wrapping them though. Hope you did not catch a cold or anything. Of course if one of them should ‘pass away’ you have several others with the same name so no big loss right
And I have one more present for you. Had trouble getting it wrapped so might be a little late. We are dreadfully sorry about that.
Ren O’ Claus
Seriously… hope you all had a good Christmas and have an excellent new year!
That Chuk Guy
Hmm…there’s an awful lot of stunties running around here…thought they were Santa’s elves for a minute…sigh guess there just those vertically challenged beardy gits from up north.
Need to shoo them along unless they want to hop into a stewpot.
I guess the Dwarf stewpot buffet at Khand Amu had to be called off since it was burned down around your ears?
Oh and now that the city of Angrenost has thrown off the yoke of Sauron’s lackeys, there will be a carnival coming there soon.
Orcs are welcome though it is a no drool zone.
Referring to the 4228 scenario as a “Dwarf stewpot” does not even begin to describe the complete blunder of losing it.
I would be a little more impressed this game if the high points of the DS game couldn’t be compared to button pushing: 215/670, 215/670, 215/615/620. I see someone just had to hit the 330:504 button this turn as well.
Ren looks over to his advisor “Have the Dark Lts. switched sides?”.
Advisor “No my lord. They still server our master Sauron.”.
Ren looks quizzicly at the latest messages sent from the unstructured lands. “Either our agents are using the hallucinating drugs instead of posion or they are truly losing what little of their minds they started with. Speaking of those misdirected beings, how went the festivities at the river?”
Advisor “Oh quite excellent your lord. We were victorious in both areas. Your water wings have been readied and your swimsuit has already been packed. Osgiliath is now under our control. There is a large force that will likely take it back though.”
Ren “No worries. We were able to make the ‘modifciations’ that were required. The place is really no use to us now anyway. Prepare my armor. Things are going to be more interesting finally.”

The big eye in the sky.
“Watch us, we’re watching you.”
Yes well not entirely burned. Speaking of burned and ears where did those pesky elves go? Could have sworn they were around here somewhere. Oh well I am sure they will be back someday. Like cockroaches.

“215, 670, 620, 330, 504 hut, hut, hut.”
Ji Indur falls back, he is going for the Hail Mary pass…
DS might be boring…but we have a reason (all self inflicted).
What is the FP’s excuse? You are so predictable, I already have my turn 12 orders done.
Ji “Where are the ******* emmys I asked for?” Indur
CL Game 221.
(Do not confuse your opponents incompetence as your “superior” plan. The one that wins is who does the least worst.)
It seems our predictability would have helped even one such as yourself.
To know something is coming and still not be able to stop it is just piss poor play.
Yes it is…and I want to apologize. You two have put a lot of time and money into your game.
I just did not have the time to instruct so many new players in what they must do. And I have been team captain for the past 4 games. I needed a break this time around so others had to step up.
On a bright note, we only had two serious game mistakes this turn. The new players are learning.
Unfortunately though, we did not give you a good testing ground for your strategies. I do not mind getting beat by superior stradegy. It is why I play. However, we never developed ours…so how can you have a good fight? And though you have played a sound game, we have done far more damage to ourselves than you could possible hope.
Again, my apologies.
We will continue the fight (we have a few sharp sticks left) and I hope we can cause you a little grief. But as I said before, the game ball is yours to win with or (if we could only be so fortunate) give back to the DS.
Sincerely

CL Game 221
Honestly, protracting the game will be grief enough. I will add that I am glad to see we are all on the same page of the story. It has been enjoyable enough for me, though I personally have little interest in continuation of the scenario as it stands in light of the fact that we are both on the same page. If the DS is willing, I would be glad for you folks to call it here and lets move on to the next one! You will have my gratitude for hosting as the opposition as well as graciously allowing for a fresh start in another game as this one is definately consuming alot of my time (not that I expect the next to be any less demanding).
The game’s not over yet.
Not saying you won’t close the two holes we are looking at right now, but you haven’t closed them yet and we may yet get a poker in your eye.
Okay, I’m not holding my breath or anything, but it’s not a foregone conclusion yet.
Not yet.

sounds like this one is going bad for you. As you are my team mate in game 21. I hope you can pull this game out of the crapper but if you cant concede and concentrate on 21.
Just an outsider looking in.
William
LOL…thanks. What is funny is two of my team mates are playing the DS in Game 21 (Dog Lord and Long Rider I believe…we do not talk about it).
Anyway…I am NOT the team captain this game. Thus the way our team works, I do not have final say.
I am just one vote of 10 and the Team Captain must call for a vote first.
